Pay attention while you are out and about getting ready for the Holidays. Humans make for interesting entertainment.
I am at the Post office. Lines are long as Arizona residents struggle with the notion of 75º afternoons and Christmas only two weeks away. Here is a mother with twins, trying to juggle packages and frisky, beautiful […]

We’ve lost ourselves. This economic debacle is only a symptom of the real problem: A lack of Accountability in the halls of Congress, and in the major Boardrooms of America. As we say in Hawaii, The fish rots from the head down. We cannot fix this until the people we entrusted with our governing, our tax dollars, and our finances set greed aside and start being accountable for their actions. Shortsighted greed has been the norm for several decades. This does not belong to one party or one president, although the recent spate of leaders has certainly sped up our trip to hell.

My friend Peggy from Hawaii reminded me to pick up Viktor Frankl’s book, “Man’s Search for Meaning,” at exactly the right time. We all have times of regret in our lives. Times where we wonder why we went somewhere, made that choice, got involved with someone.
As I re-read the amazing story of Viktor Frankl’s experiences […]

The 2008 election is over. The upset is not. Whether you had favorites in the National, State, or Local races, no doubt some of your favorites won and some lost. The hardest part is always the next step: accepting that this is what IS, and figuring out what to do with it.
On the National Election, […]

I know, I know, today I’m supposed to be reminding you to vote; or carrying on about this candidate or that; or telling you NOT to vote if you disagree with my choices…
But this morning I had a far more interesting encounter than all the blather on TV about the elections.
While I was lifting weights […]

Harvey MacKay wrote a book about it: “Dig Your Well Before You Need it.” He said you need to get your ducks in a row when things are going great, and not wait until your life or business is hanging by a thread. To me, that really applies to networking. We human critters need […]

In my business we see a lot of celebrities. Often we’ll be one of the other keynote or breakout speakers after a big name gives a lunch speech. One difference I’ve noted (besides the fact they make obscene amounts of money more than me!) is they have “people.” In the past year I’ve spoken […]

Go hug somebody. Remember who you are. Remember you only get about 80 trips around the sun, if you’re lucky — and don’t sweat the small stuff. Enjoy today. Even the difficult and boring parts. At least you are here to deal with it.

I woke up this morning thinking, “I need a few miracles.” This economy is a tad spooky in my industry. Even though it’s smart business to step up training in a down economy to insure you hold onto good employees and customers, companies often don’t. So we speakers and trainers get a little […]

In the past two weeks I’ve had a weird thing happen. I’m fixin’ to try and find some guru or new age type who can ’splain it to me because it has me worried. While I was in Hawaii, I was checking out of the hotel and inadvertently dropped my keys down the elevator […]
